What looks like a new delayed wake up animation spotted in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Rain trailer

There's already plenty to be excited about when it comes to Mortal Kombat 11 as we just got our first character trailer for the three "Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate" newcomers, but while Rain looks absolutely amazing in his MK11 debut, our focus was simultaneously pulled in an unexpected direction.

Those of us who recall the trials and tribulations of Street Fighter 4's "vortex chapter" know just how crucial a role defensive options and indicators can be when it comes to okizeme (the crucial situations that occur while a character is standing up from being knocked down) and NetherRealm Studios developers appear to be tweaking things in this department for Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate.

Developers made sure from MK11's launch day that players had access to a healthy variance of options when it comes to wake up scenarios as characters can be made to rise up quickly or hang out and delay before standing in order to keep aggressors guessing.

As it stands now when players opt for the latter, the characters will simply lay mostly still where they're at until prompted to take further action. A very quick snippet from Rain's trailer, however, sees him knock Sindel down with a forward throw and we then see the evil queen strike a new pose despite remaining horizontal for a slightly extended time.

A face-down Sindel places both hands flat on the ground and turns her head up toward her opponent to strike something of a "ready" position. This may be a newly added animation that would serve as more obvious indication that a player is opting to stay down longer than they have to.

This may come across as fairly minute in terms of how much it'll echo in general gameplay, but even a small change such as this can very heavily impact reaction times and decision making when in the heat of the moment. If this is indeed what it looks like, we imagine this will provide something of a buff to MK11's wake up offense as it gives just a bit more information to the aggressor.

You can see the quick sequence thanks to a capture by Ragingseaturtle by clicking the thumbnail below. This happens around the 1:07 mark in the trailer.
