No traditional online ranked mode for Guilty Gear Strive according to latest Famitsu magazine
The latest Famitsu magazine has provided some interesting information about Guilty Gear Strive which is slated for a April 9, 2021 release date. Snippets from the magazine have been posted by Ryokutya2089 and then translated by Siliconera.
Apparently, Guilty Gear Strive will not have a traditional online ranked mode. Instead, players will be able to enter a "Floor" that might be more suitable to each individual's skill level.
Players will essentially be playing the game without worrying about ranked points. It seems that the developers hope to mitigate the stress involved with competing for points online.
"We forget all traditions from past titles for once and reconsider how Guilty Gear ought to be like; that’s how we’re developing this game," said Daisuke Ishiwatari, General Director at Arc System Works. "There is a clear split between pros and cons from existing fans in regards to the system reform; that left quite the impression."
"We’re thinking of a structure that didn't exist in the series until now, where you can enter online battles without any stress," added Akira Katano, Development Director at Arc System Works.
This seems to indicate that Guilty Gear Strive won't have any sort of online leaderboard where players are ranked based on their points.
