Soul Calibur Online Challenge Japan results

This weekend saw the first installment of the Soul Calibur Online Challenge happen, the online series of tournaments Bandai Namco are hosting for one of their signature fighting games.

They started off the tour by bringing the stage of battle to one of the game's strongest regions, namely Japan. Later this month and at the end of next month, we'll see two more events happen on this tour, one for U.S. East and one for Europe West, two other notoriously strong regions for the game.

The Soul Calibur 6 Wolrd Tour for 2020 was cancelled back in May alongside fellow Bandai Namco fighting game tours for Tekken 7 and Dragon Ball FighterZ, obviously due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic across the world. These online events were introduced to be a replaclement, of sorts, for this year.

For this Japanese event, almost 100 players signed up to compete and fought to the end to gain the glory of 1st place.

The prize pool paid out to the top 3 placers consisted of 100,000 ($950) Yen overall, so there was definitely ample value at stake for the warriors battling from home.

Streaming was done at Soul Calibur.
