Rambo features a number of cool references to Rocky, Demolition Man, The Expendables and more Sylvester Stallone's films in Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate

No Judge Dredd which is a bummer it seems

Mortal Kombat as a series is filled to burst with references, Easter eggs and fan service built up over the past 25 plus years, and their guest characters are no exception to that extra level of love.

John Rambo joined the cast of Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate this week alongside Rain and Mileena, so of course he came packing a ton of cool references to Sylvester Stallone's extensive film career from Rocky Balboa to some serious pulls like 1992's comedy and box office bomb Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.

While we previously saw a First Blood reference in one of Rambo's Krushing Blows, most of his callbacks come from his intro dialogue against the rest of MK11's cast.

Most of the nods used are simply name drops or puns based on various movie titles Stallone has starred in, but there are a handful that go beyond the surface level a bit more.

Jax: You took out Shao Kahn's army single-handed?
Rambo: Just did what had to be done.
Jax: You got a gift for demolition, man.

In the mirror match, one Rambo will ask the other if they came from the same place, but the other replies that he's from Philadelphia which is an obvious reference to Stallone's other most iconic role with the boxer Rocky Balboa.

Sheriff Teasle from First Blood is also name dropped specifically by Geras, who admonishes Rambo for his actions in the original story, but obviously the scarred veteran sees things differently than him.

Rambo 1: You're from Bowie, too?
Rambo 2: No, I'm from Philly.
Rambo 1: No kidding.

Unsurprisingly, Johnny Cage has some words with Rambo about telling his story and making a movie for a ton of cash while also noting the action star looks quite familiar.

There's even more packed into MK11 for The Expendables, Cliffhanger, Bullet to the Head and more Stallone movies that you can check out in the compilation below thanks to MKIceAndFire, but they missed a serious opportunity to make a Judge Dredd joke when Rambo squares off against Robo Cop.
