Update: NetherRealm Studios' Paulo Garcia confirmed a new hotfix has been released for Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate to address Rain's Hydro Boost issues, an infinite combo loop for Kung Lao and more. The full details are added to the story below.

Rain, Mileena and Rambo are now available to use in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. The version 1.25 patch also allows all fighters to use custom variation options during Kombat League and during competitive play.

One of Rain's options gives him the ability to use the Hydro Boost special. On paper, this looks like a really good combo extender when amplified. However, a glaring problem with the special has been discovered.

Normally, Rain should be able to use the amplified version of the Hydro Boost to cancel out the special's recovery while still airborne. This would allow him to hit the juggled opponent with an air attack and then extend the juggle.

As shown in a clip posted by Tyson, this sequence only works correctly on the player 1 side. If this special is used while Rain is standing closer to the right-hand side corner than the opponent, then the second water geyser won't connect.

The second hit is absolutely necessary to make any combo applications work correctly since the opponent won't be juggled in the air long enough otherwise. In the mirror match, this means that the Rain user on the player 2 port will begin the match with an unfair disadvantage if both players have this special equipped.

These are the hotfix adjustments made now on PlayStation and Xbox systems.
