While Steve's overall viability in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is debatable, it's clear that Steve has access to an exemplary set of tools that are ideal for edge guarding. Recovering against Steve with certain characters often proves to be a difficult chore.

VGBC|GimR has come up with a "virtually inescapable ledge trap" for Steve that makes use of the TNT (down special), a generated block (air neutral special) and the anvil (down aerial).

To begin, you simply need to set the TNT about a roll's distance away from the ledge. Once this is done, buffer a backwards walking jab to push the TNT slightly away from the switch. Do another backwards jab to get the ledge.

After doing a full hop, generate a dirt block then immediately buffer Steve's down aerial. This should place the anvil directly on top of the dirt block.

From here, simply sit in shield on top of the anvil. If you see movement, use Steve's grab. Should the grab land, pummel them until a breakaway happens so that they trigger the TNT switch.

There are a few ways to counter this trap, but there are also ways for Steve to counter those counters. Check it all out in the video below:
