Why Steve might be the worst character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Shortly after his release into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as is often the case with new DLC characters, Steve popped on many of our radars a potentially overpowered roster member. This stemmed from his unique abilities and the potential many saw as they imagined how such tools might work together in powerful ways.

The face of Minecraft has been throwing down for exactly one month today, and despite those early concerns it actually may be the case that Steve is Ultimate's worst character. A recent examination by IzawSmash explores why.

Izaw comes right out and declares that he feels Steve is likely one of the bottom seven characters of Ultimate's 80+ man roster, and possibly absolute worst.

The notable community figure acknowledges that some of Steve's abilities do give reason to consider that he may be mid or even higher tier, but that he falls apart when the rubber meets the road.

While you may be able to get away with gimmicky strategies at lower levels of play, higher caliber competitors simply don't let things slip through cracks very often. The fact that Steve has, as Izaw puts it, the worst in neutral in the game by far, is an immediate problem that tumbles him down the tier list in a matter of fact manner.

Steve tends to rely on his opponents' mistakes to gain openings, and so you can see why he might thrive when pitted against greener or simply less thoughtful/patient players. There's a whole lot more to Izaw's detailed analysis, and we'd love to hear your thoughts on Steve and whether or not you agree with Izaw's points in the comments below.
