Super Smash Bros. Melee modder creates nice quality of life update for the almost 20-year-old title

Super Smash Bros. Melee saw a recent surge this year thanks to the Slippi Online program that added rollback netcode matchmaking to the GameCube classic though that's not all the community has been up to lately.

A Smash modder by the name of UnclePunch recently released an update for Melee that added in a nice quality of life feature that was included in Brawl onwards which any player can appreciate.

The Transparent HUD mod changes the in-game character icons and damage percentages to become — you guessed it — transparent when the actual fighters overlap with them.

This of course makes the super technical game when played competitively a lot more easy to follow in terms of playing and viewing considering characters could often be obfuscated by these elements.

Uncle Punch also confirmed that his mod does work in conjunction with Slippi Online, so they shouldn't cause issues if paired together.

You can find out more information regarding the Transparent HUD mod on SmashBoards though we very strongly advise only to install / download mods or programs from sources you can verify and trust.

Below, UnclePunch also released a short video which showcasing what the mod does in action including compared to what it looks like in the base game.
