A 9.0.2 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is coming very soon, warning that replay data might be lost in coming transition

We have word from Nintendo VS that information concerning Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's new 9.0.2 patch will soon be released so that we can see exactly what's been altered.

We don't, in fact, expect there to be much in the way of balance changes at all this time around, but instead suspect that the majority of the bullet points we'll see will simply be bug and quality of life alterations. That said, there is something worth knowing before you cue up the update on your Nintendo Switch.

The announcement's text includes some specific notes about replay data and how there's potential that old replays will not work once you've converted to the 9.0.2 version of the game. There is, thankfully, a way around this in case you've got some golden footage of your Ganondorf beasting on your friend's Young Link that you'd like to make sure to hang onto.

Here's the announcement text that includes the warning as well as instructions on how to ensure your favorite Smash Ultimate memories don't end up lost in the ether:

"Ver. 9.0.2 of #SmashBrosUltimate will arrive in the near future! This update will include fighter adjustments, meaning replay data from previous versions will be incompatible. Convert your replays by going to Vault -> Replays -> Replay Data -> Convert to Video, before updating."

We'll be keeping a keen eye out for these patch notes and sharing them here on EventHubs as soon as we find them. We do wonder if Masahiro Sakurai and his team have found any particularly pestering parts of Steve's design that they've chosen to rework here roughly a month after his release.

Do you think Steve is good as he is now? Are there any other aspects of the game that could use a little attention at this point in time? Feel free to share any predictions for this next patch in the comments below.
