Footage of Mortal Kombat 11 on the Xbox Series X is really, ridiculously good looking

The next generation is officially here as both Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Sony's PlayStation 5 have officially hit shelves, and while the natural inclination is to consider what kinds of new and exciting next-gen games will be available for us, many players are arguably more interested in seeing how the titles they already own work on the upgraded hardware.

Recently we got an early report about Street Fighter 5's performance on the PlayStation 5, and today we're excited to take a look at the already gorgeous Mortal Kombat 11 while being run on the Xbox Series X.

Thanks to MKIceAndFire, we've got nearly 13 minutes of 4k gameplay footage with which to compare and contrast with older stuff. While it can be difficult to actively catch such minute upgrades, we're fairly certain when we say this is the best the game has ever looked, and that's a big statement considering we're talking about MK11.

Perhaps some of the best places to look here are for details in texture and lighting, specifically in the way light bounces and reflects off of objects. Seeing Robocop climb out of his patrol vehicle at the very start of the video, you can almost feel exactly what the outside of the car would feel like to the touch as you observe the tiniest imperfections, textures, and even small dusty fingerprints on the door frame.

Of course, it's going to depend on the device you're using to view the footage as to whether or not you'll be able to get the full experience. I nabbed a screen shot of the door frame I mentioned as an example here:

Those of you who have 4k monitors can especially appreciate all of this, but perhaps there are small details added to this version of the game. Again, it could just be that we're directly looking for such things, but it does look like Robocop winds up with more dirt, suit, and scuff marks on his armor than usual as the battle goes on. Let us know if you noticed anything like this in the comments.
