With the impending release of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath just around the corner, the fighting game community has been enjoying quite the steady stream of content for what's about to arrive, and today brings even more.

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. released the official launch trailer for MK11: Aftermath this morning which shows off almost two minutes more of its story mode expansion and other additions. There's also more information on a more exact timeline of when the update will roll out for players.

The trailer starts with Shang Tsung opening a portal for a freshly resurrected Sindel where the mission to capture Kronika's crown seems to at least be an initial success as we see Fujin holding it within his hands and later wielding it.

Fighters once again prepare for the final battle at Kronika's Keep though there's some key differences in the characters present for the final battles aside from the DLC additions though we won't spoil what's what here yet.

Shang Tsung also receives some new lines of dialogue throughout the trailer including his iconic "it has begun" line from the original Mortal Kombat film where he was also portrayed by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa.

There seems to be some new treachery afoot as well considering Kitana tells her mom she should have stayed dead, and the end of the trailer shows a youthful Shang Tsung using Kronika's crown to try and re-shape history (assumedly to his liking) before being confronted by Fire God Liu Kang.

Players looking to pick up the expansion as soon as it launches next week will be able to do so around 8 a.m. PT on May 26 though times will vary around the globe. Most should be able to access it by the end of the day except for places like Australia which will have to wait until about 1 a.m. their time on the 27th.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is scheduled to release on May 26 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia featuring Fujin, Sheeva and RoboCop as new playable characters. Players looking to pick up a physical copy of the expansion will need to wait until June to do so, however.
