Here's how Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath's universal armor breaking mechanic will work
Examples shown for Fujin, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Shao Kahn
During the Fujin Kombat Kast that debuted earlier today for Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, it was revealed that every character in the game would be receiving an armor breaking attack. As demonstrated on the stream, these will be particularly useful against breakaways.
At a hefty expense of meter, characters are able to perform the breakaway action while being juggled. Thanks to its combo breaking properties, these are very useful for preserving your character's life bar.
Initiating the breakaway will cause your character to take on armor properties and fall faster. For everyone except Spawn, the only way to beat this action previously was to combo into a Fatal Blow (which naturally have armor breaking properties).
The armor breaking property can be tied to a character's normal attack or special. Some of these attacks will have enhanced properties if you successfully beat armor using them.
Scorpion's back + 3 (front kick) will now ground bounce opponents for extended juggle time. Sub-Zero's forward + 4 (back kick) will automatically trigger its Krushing Blow effect against armor.
Do keep in mind that armor breaking Krushing Blow effects will only trigger once. However, Sub-Zero's forward + 4 will retain its armor breaking properties even if the Krushing Blow has already been spent.
Shao Kahn actually has to spend meter for his armor breaking property. His amplified downward Shoulder Tackle will pop up opponents that try to escape using a breakaway.
We also had the opportunity to see Fujin's armor breaker. Check out all the gathered clips below:
