RoboCop receives a sleek Cyber Ninja skin in Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath
All machine, throw out the man
Mortal Kombat and cyborgs have gone together like peanut butter and jelly for over 25 years at this point with the introduction of characters like Cyrax and Sektor. It's nice to see that history make an impact on the series' latest crossover.
Following the gameplay trailer reveal for Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, PlayStation's official Twitter account released a clip of a special skin coming to the game which turns RoboCop into a Cyber Ninja.
Based directly on the MK3 designs, this new look for Alex Murphy completely forgoes his last remaining human parts on the outside of his armor with a full metal exoskeleton that blends together the two properties well.
Still present are RoboCop's red visor and silver motifs while decking him out in some Cyber Lin Kuei-themed gear with the fully-covered face mask, layered armor and sleeker legs. Oh and he has some cable dreads too of course.
This does point out a hole that continues through MK11's playable roster in that there are none of the original cyborgs on the roster despite both Cyrax and Sektor appearing in the game's story mode. We've now reached essentially two DLC expansions without them.
Even back in Mortal Kombat X, all of the cybernetic fighters got pared down into the sole Triborg and melding together the play styles and personalities of Cyrax, Sektor, Smoke and Cyber Sub-Zero into one.
RoboCop himself is one of three characters set to launch in Mortal Kombat 11 later this month on May 26 alongside Sheeva, Fujin and a new story mode expansion.
