Haohmaru is now available in Soul Calibur 6 along with new stage and Character Creation Set D
First we had Geese vs. Heihachi and now there's Haormaru vs. Mitsurugi
It's been quite some time since Haohmaru was first revealed to be joining the cast of Soul Calibur 6 as the game's third guest character, and now that long wait to take him into battle is finally over.
Samurai Shodown's poster boy Haohmaru is now available to download and use in Soul Calibur 6 as the second character in the game's Season Pass 2 after Hilde along with some other new content.
Making the transition from 2D to 3D fighting games, the first samurai of fighting games' move set and style appear to be fully intact here including his special moves like Senpuu Retsu Zan and Kogetsu Zan. Giving him a traditional fireball and uppercut is sure to make Haohmaru stand out amongst his latest competitors.
Though he can't actually rip the blades out of his opponents' hands in this game like he can in SamSho, Haohmaru can still perform a guard impact that looks like his disarming counter from his home series along with a powered up mode which turns his skin red — we're not quite sure if it's tied into a rage mechanic.
Joining the SamSho protagonist is a re-imagining of his classic Gairyu Isle stage which is included with the new fighter's asking price.
Nakoruru fans will also have something extra to mess around with since the new DLC pack contains her iconic outfit along with her bow, headband and Mamahaha the hawk as accessories in SC6.
Separately, but also part of Season Pass 2, comes the Character Creation Set D which includes 48 new customizable costume and armor pieces in total though the standout seems to be a full-body cat suit. It also comes with over a dozen hit effects and stickers.
Haohmaru can be accessed for Season Pass 2 owners currently priced at $34 for the bundle while the crossover character by himself can be purchased for $5.99. Those looking to pick up the new character creation set will be set back $3.99.
Soul Calibur 6 is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC where the game still has two more characters for Season Pass 2 that have yet to be revealed.
