Daigo is confident that there aren't any match ups where Kage outperforms Guile in Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition's latest update

The latest patch for Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition provided a plethora of balance changes, much to the community's surprise. Guile was among the fighters that was ultimately nerfed as his V-Skill 2 — the Sonic Dive — now has increased start up and recovery time.

Despite playing a lot of Kage leading up to the update, RB|Daigo Umehara was adamant that he would be maining Guile in Season 5. According to a video upload by FGC Translated, Daigo intends to stick with Guile even after the nerfs.

"Will I main [Kage]? Well, I do think he has potential," noted Daigo. "I don't think he's stronger than Guile."

During the video, Daigo considered what could've been if only Kage was slightly stronger. Overall, Daigo does not believe Kage to be all that great due to his poor ground game.

Still, Daigo ended up going back and forth with himself about whether or not there was room to improve upon Kage. He considered the possibility of using his Ax Kick more as a neutral tool.

Ultimately though, it does appear that Daigo does still consider Guile to be the better choice between him and Kage. "Is there any match up where Kage performs better than Guile? Nope. There [are] none," answered Daigo.
