Ryu's Thrust Strike combos, max corner damage with Akuma, new Guile loops, and more — Street Fighter 5 matchmaking update week 1 tech roundup

It's been nearly a week since the matchmaking update brought about some balance changes to Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition. There are sure to be some major fluctuations in the tier list as some fighters were buffed while others were nerfed.

Many players have been experimenting with the changes in the lab. Needless to say, some interesting tech has been developed as a result.

As there have been a number of changes to Akuma's V-Skill 2, Jav1ts has come up with a maximum corner damage combo that's also meterless. Should you get hit by this, then you'll be taking 373 damage.

Although Guile's V-Skill 2 — the Sonic Dive — now has increased start up and recovery time, RB|Daigo (via HiFight) has demonstrated that Guile is still very much capable of performing Sonic Boom loops.

Thou Yang and J. Caesar II have been experimenting with combos involving Ryu's Thrust Strike. The ability to more easily transition into V-Trigger and the crumple effect are quite handy.

Finally, LiangHuBBB managed to capture some footage of the new and improved Alex in Street Fighter 5.
