Nintendo has just released the highly anticipated Nintendo Direct in the form of a Nintendo Direct mini. The video was uploaded straight to YouTube instead of being a live broadcast, runs for nearly 30 minutes, and provides the latest updates on Nintendo's products.

It was announced that the first character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighters Pass volume 2 will be a representative from ARMS. The character's specific identity has not been revealed yet, but they are scheduled for release in June.

"The fighter included in wave 6 of the paid Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC will be... joining the battle from ARMS," Nintendo said during the presentation.

As expected, the upcoming character is set to fight using extendable arms — which is one of the main fighting mechanics in ARMS. Nintendo notes that the development of this DLC fighter is being extended, which is a result of the struggles the company and many people around the world are experiencing right now with the COVID-19 coronavirus spread.

Nintendo aims to not only reveal the character but release them as well this June. At the top of the video, however, it is noted that release dates and information shown are subject to change due to the coronavirus.

In celebration of the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC information, Nintendo is running a free trial for ARMS for those who are subscribed to the Nintendo Online service. Those eligible will be able to try out the full game from 9 a.m. PDT / 12 p.m. EDT today, March 26, until 11: 59 p.m. PDT / 2:59 a.m. EDT on Monday, April 6 (April 7 on the east coast).

One of ARMS' main characters, Spring Man, is currently an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As it stands right now, this disqualifies him as a candidate for DLC due to Assist Trophies specifically not being actual playable characters as a means to avoid confusion.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighters Pass volume 2 is set to introduce six new DLC characters into the fold. The fighters are expected to be released over the course of the next two years, with the final character planned to be available by December 31, 2021.

You can pre-purchase the pass right now for $29.99 USD. This will include all six of the upcoming fighters, a unique stage and set of music for each, and a bonus Mii Swordfighter outfit: Ancient Soldier Gear.

At this point in time, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has added six DLC characters to the roster. Piranha Plant was the first to join as a bonus fighter that was free to those who bought and registered the game before a certain date, then went up on the Nintendo eShop as paid content.

Fighters Pass volume 1 kicked off with Joker from Persona 5, who brought his pistols and persona Arsene into the mix. Joker was followed by the announcement of both Dragon Quest's Hero and fan-favorite duo Banjo-Kazooie, who released in July and September 2019, respectively.

Fatal Fury / The King of Fighters' own Terry Bogard came next, arriving as the third traditional fighting game contender in Smash Bros. Ultimate and utilizing super-powered special moves when his percentage is high to deal devastating damage.

Lastly, Fire Emblem: Three Houses protagonist Byleth closed out the Fighters Pass. With both a male and female version mapped to their in-game colors, Byleth uses specific weapons for each set of attacks per direction.
