Just yesterday, it was revealed during the "Mr. Sakurai presents an ARMS fighter" Nintendo stream that Min Min would be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on June 29, 2020. Although Min Min's popularity among ARMS fan made her an obvious candidate, her inclusion does set an interesting precedent.

While this was never officially confirmed by Nintendo up to this point, there was previously this speculation among fans that declared that Spirits were disconfirmed as possible DLC challengers. We're now forced to throw this idea out the window as Min Min has been in the game as a Spirit since the game's launch.

It really did seem like this was an inevitability after it was announced that the Fighters Pass Vol. 2's Challenger Pack 6 would see the representation from the ARMS series. As of right now, the ARMS Spirits that are currently present in the game are Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Twintelle, Ninjara, and Min Min.

If any character were to be selected from ARMS' roster, these five seem like they'd have the best odds due to their popularity. Spring Man and Min Min in particular seemed like they were a step above the rest as they were the only three-starred Spirits among those five.

Fans of characters like Geno from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Shantae, Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil, Chorus Kids from Rhythm Heaven, Captain Toad, Rayman, Paper Mario, and many other classic gaming icons have had their hopes renewed with Min Min's unveiling.

As of right now, there are over 1,400 Spirits that can be obtained in the game. While many of these Spirits just aren't suited for a playable challenger slot, the door has been opened for a number of fan favorites.

Of course, some characters like Shadow the Hedgehog, Knuckles, Zero from Mega Man X, Isaac from Golden Sun, Akira from Virtua Fighter, Alucard from Castlevania, Ashley from WarioWare, Shovel Knight, and even... Waluigi still have this perception of abysmal odds of joining the roster due to their status as Assist Trophy characters.

Things might have been different had Spring Man been the selected ARMS rep as he is already represented as both a Spirit and an Assist Trophy. There are still five characters left for the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 so this could change sometime in the future.
