A new Guilty Gear Strive trailer has been released this morning though it's not for a new fighter. For the first time, fans are given a deep look at gameplay for Zato-1 and Millia as they'll appear.

The new trailer was showcased during the New Game Plus Expo presentation live stream earlier today to give us almost two minutes of Guilty Gear action.

Zato is first to take the stage although he brought friends along with him of course considering Eddie still fights by his side and grants him the power to control the shadows which he can certainly still do here.

The majority of Zato's moves still appear to revolve around taking advantage of those shadows to nearly cover the screen with spikes, traps and beast forms that'll keep the opponent locked down for days.

Eddie's new powered up form can also completely engulf Zato's body which allows him to transform into something resembling a black demon that can grow wings and change shape while attacking from the air.

Millia still appears to have everything that makes her special from previous games with her various hair whips and spikes though it all has a new makeover to make her attacks look super distinct and stylized.

Players worried Strive's gameplay might be too slow should look no further than all of the crazy stuff Millia can do here considering we see she can still cross you up remarkably fast and combo you into oblivion.

She also appears to have the strongest air game out of pretty much anyone we've seen for Strive thus far with her specific jump and dash cancels.

Interestingly, besides there being no voice over in the trailer, we also don't get to see any user interface elements which is something ArcSys lamented as one of the missteps from earlier showings of Strive that they're looking to change for the final release.

Guilty Gear Strive had been set for a late 2020 release before getting delayed into next year. This new trailer states its current release window is scheduled for early 2021.

Many players had also been wondering if Strive would end up a cross-generation fighting game like Xrd did previously between PlayStation 3 and 4, but the logos at the end of the video only list PS4 as a platform.

This makes it seem less likely there will be a specific PS5 version of the new Arc System Works fighter — at launch anyway — though it shouldn't bring up too many issues considering it'll be required to be compatible with the new hardware.
