Nintendo has just announced when the official reveal for the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character will happen.

On Monday, June 22, series creator Masahiro Sakurai will be holding a presentation to showcase the upcoming fighter. We can expect the broadcast to run for about 35 minutes.

"Join Super #SmashBrosUltimate Director Masahiro Sakurai on 6/22 at 7am PT for a roughly 35-minute video livestream featuring an in-depth look at the upcoming DLC fighter from #ARMS!" the official Nintendo of America Twitter account writes.

Sakurai's presentation will likely be streaming over on the official Nintendo Twitch channel. As previously stated and reiterated here, the first DLC character from Fighters Pass volume 2 is slated to come from Nintendo's own fighting franchise, ARMS.

The company's Twitter account followed up by stating that there will be no further announcements during this presentation. Fans who were looking forward to seeing who the next DLC combatant might be should go in with that in mind.

As far as who we can expect to see revealed here, we can't say for sure. There has been a lot of speculation as to who it might be, but one of the main mysteries we'll see solved is if Nintendo will break their rule of not having Assist Trophies as playable characters — should Spring Man end up being the DLC fighter.

Sakurai's new character presentations have been very insightful in the past. The developer sits down to tell fans all about the newcomer, beginning with their history and some of the reasons why they made it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

He typically goes on to provide an in-depth breakdown of their moveset, from normal attacks to special moves and even their Final Smash. Sakurai also plays a handful of matches to give viewers an idea of what kind of playstyle the new contender comes equipped with.

With the announcement of the presenation, Sakurai took to Twitter to share some quick words for fans (courtesy of the translation from PushDustIn). "Sorry for the wait! The presentation is Monday evening, right after this weekend (In Japan time). I hope you look forward to it!" Sakurai wrote.

ARMS has a unique fighting foundation that is very telling when it comes to what the upcoming DLC character should play like. The whole theme of ARMS is long-ranged combat, as every fighter is armed (no pun intended) with long, springy limbs that reach out and attack their foes.

Each fighter can choose between various fist attachments that change the effects of their strikes, which will also likely play a role here in Smash Bros. Ultimate. ARMS fighters are also capable of grabbing their opponents from far away, and during the heat of battle can enter into a powered-up state that allows them to fire off a barrage of rapid punches for maximum damage.

In January of this year, Nintendo wrapped up their initial Fighters Pass adding five new fighters to the roster. Things kicked off with Persona 5's Joker seeing a release back in April 2019.

Dragon Quest's Hero and Banjo-Kazooie were revealed simultaneously, but Hero saw his launch first in July 2019. The classic Rare duo would follow in September.

In November, SNK's own Terry Bogard of Fatal Fury fame would enter the ring, and finally Fire Emblem: Three Houses' Byleth closed out the pass in January of this year.

With Fighters Pass volume 2, fans can expect to see six more DLC fighters join the battle. These characters will all be released alongside a new stage unique to them, as well as their own background music.

Fighters Pass volume 2 is slated to be released all the way through the end of 2021, but you can pre-purchase it now for $29.99 USD.
