EVO Online update: Skullgirls now to be played on PC, 'something' being worked on for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 tournament of champions
It was on Wednesday that we got our first information drop concerning EVO Online registration and game platforms, but there's been a change to one of the four titles featured in the event's open tournaments.
EVO organizer Mr. Wizard announced Thursday via Twitter that Skullgirls will now be played on Steam PC instead of on PlayStation 4. A question concerning the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 tournament of champions popped up in the ensuing thread, Wizard's answer to which has piqued some interest.
A fan by the Twitter handle AElfigih asked if there would be any additional news concerning the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 tournament of champions. This was originally planned as a special invitational for the game's 20th anniversary at EVO 2020 that would include its former EVO champions as well as a few other qualifying competitors.
"There is no news at the moment" started Wizard. "We are working on something and hope to be able to pull it off by EVO." Despite his preface, this does come as news to many who weren't exactly sure the fate of the MvC2 event following the initial cancellation of EVO 2020.
We still do not know exactly how the EVO team plans on going about the planned exhibitions for the previous headliner titles, (save for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which has bowed out completely) but Marvel 2's modern scarcity led some to ponder whether or not it would be scrapped altogether.
That is apparently not the plan as of right now, though Wizard's words do make it clear we don't have any set in stone promises that MvC2 will indeed make an EVO Online 2020 appearance. You can view the aforementioned tweets via the gallery below:
