'We want to stand back and let more important voices be heard' - Sony postpones this week's PlayStation 5 reveal event

Sony has postponed the virtual PlayStation 5 presentation scheduled for June 4 that was slated to specifically focus on some of the first titles that are to be launched alongside the console this coming holiday season.

The company broke the news via the official PlayStation Twitter Monday afternoon with a statement noting that they do not feel that it's currently an appropriate time for such reveals.

Though they do not make any specific mention in their statement, it seems Sony is taking this action in response to the recent social unrest surrounding the Memorial Day events in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the ensuing protests.

Protests and riots have been occurring across the United States following the death of George Floyd by a police officer in a neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Outcries for social change and the elimination of police brutality have become a central focus in American society, and it seems Sony does not want to detract from that in any way.
