Kenny Omega returns to help make Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition's character reveals on August 5
Capcom is not only gearing up to be a part of the big fighting game developer roundtable discussion later today, but the company is set to unveil more of what is en route for Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition on August 5.
The live stream is set to make announcements including Season 5 character reveals, eSports news, and more. Today, we have learned that none other than professional wrestler and fighting game hype man Kenny Omega will be returning to help make the big reveals next Wednesday.
"Hey guys, the folks at Capcom have trusted me to deliver some exciting @StreetFighter V announcements!" Omega wrote on Twitter. "Tune in August 5,10am PDT for the #SFVSummerUpdate, which will include news from yours truly on Season 5 characters, apparel and more. Don’t miss it!"
Omega has been an avid member of the fighting game community over the years, seeing numerous recent appearances at official Capcom events, E3, and much more. Back in May 2018, Kenny starred as the new mayor of Metro City, Cody, in the character's Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition gameplay trailer.
The live-action segment was a big hit with the fans, and we even saw the talents of fellow pro wrestler Austin Creed as the voice over the phone in the trailer. While we don't know if Kenny will be a part of the actual reveals themselves, as he was with Cody, it appears he will be helping host the live stream.
Back at Capcom Cup 2019, Omega acted as the emcee for the event. He presented some of the special showdowns we saw in person and on stream, and also assisted producer Yoshinori Ono in revealing Seth — delivering a legendary knockout kick to Ono (who later retaliated with a steel chair strike).
Omega has done a fantastic job with presenting Capcom's content and events, so it will surely be a treat to see him back on the screen for Wednesday's big stream — which is set to go live at 10 a.m. PT.
At this point in time, Street Fighter 5 has five new characters joining the fight in Season 5. We are also expecting to see three new stages, and eventually two winners of the Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition costume design contest will be chosen to have their concepts put into the game as official outfits.
Being referred to as the "Summer Update," come Wednesday we should have a good idea of what to expect for the new content. Right now, fans are wondering how much of Street Fighter 5's reveals will be shown at the roundtable tonight and how much will be saved for the August 5 broadcast.
Numerous developers from several major fighting game companies are joining together tonight to make reveals and answer viewer questions about their titles. We know for a fact that Guilty Gear Strive will be seeing its next character trailer during the presentation, and signs are pointing to the other companies following suit with something of their own.
Speculation on who will be joining Street Fighter 5's final season has been hot in the community, and we here at EventHubs put together our own list of fighters we think have a good chance of making the cut. You can find our choices here.
