Several major fighting game publishers are gathering together this weekend for a roundtable discussion live stream. Representatives from Capcom, Bandai Namco, Arc System Works, SNK, Arika, and Koei Tecmo will sit down together on Friday/Saturday at 5 p.m. PT (July 31) / 8 p.m. ET (July 31) / 9 a.m. JST (August 1) for the “Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable.”

The broadcast will see fighting game producers and directors discussing topics chosen by fans before the live stream — which will be airing on the Tekken, Arc System Works, Capcom, and Dead Or Alive YouTube channels. According to Gematsu, we'll be hearing about things such as the fighting games themselves, eSports, and more.

Those attending are as follows: Street Fighter 5 producer Shuuhei Matsumoto, Street Fighter 5 director Takayuki Nakayama, Tekken chief producer Katsuhiro Harada, Soul Calibur 6 producer Motohiro Okubo, Guilty Gear general director Daisuke Ishiwatari, general battle director Kazuto Sekine, SNK producer Yasuyuki Oda, SNK director Nobuyuki Kuroki, Fighting EX Layer producer Akira Nishitani, and Dead or Alive 6 producer Yohei Shinbori.

It seems as though this roundtable will be focused on providing insight into the inner workings of how each company handles their respective products, but the Guilty Gear PR Twitter account has confirmed that a new character trailer for Guilty Gear Strive will be shown during the broadcast. This means we may be seeing reveals for the other companies as well.

Back in May, Capcom announced that Street Fighter 5 would be seeing an official Season 5 of the game. This is set to include five new playable DLC characters and three new stages.

At this point in time, we have yet to hear anything on this front, and with the cancellation of various large events where reveals would have likely taken place this year, it's hard to know when we might be able to expect any news there.

Bandai Namco currently has the ongoing Season 3 of Dragon Ball FighterZ in which five new characters are being added to the game. So far, two of these fighters have joined the battle — Kefla and Ultra Instinct Goku — and we have yet to see who the final three will be.

Continuing with Bandai Namco, Tekken 7 currently does not have anything announced that is on the horizon. However, Soul Calibur 6 still has two of its four next characters to unveil for Season 2.

Arc System Works is in the midst of developing Guilty Gear Strive, with more characters and content likely en route before its 2021 release window. As previously mentioned, we can expect the next character trailer to drop during the live stream.

SNK revealed that King of Fighters 15 is currently in the works, but we have yet to see much more than the game's logo at this point. Samurai Shodown is seeing a new fighter join the battle soon, though — a guest character from popular mobile title Honor of Kings.

As far as Fighting EX Layer and Dead or Alive 6 go, there hasn't been much from either in recent times. FEXL recently launched a beta for new rollback netcode, while DOA6 saw its final major update back in April.

Though Guilty Gear will be seeing new content shown during the roundtable, it has not been directly stated that the other companies will follow suit. However, this live stream would be a good opportunity for these publishers to show what they have coming up next as there will undoubtedly be a lot of eyes on this large gathering of fighting game developers.
