Sponsor NRG Esports announced this morning the organization has severed ties with pro Super Smash Bros. player Nairoby "Nairo" Quezada following allegations of performing sexual acts with a minor.

Both NRG and Nairo have released statements regarding the termination and situation regarding the accusations.

"This morning we were made aware of disturbing information involving Nairo," reads NRG's statement via Twitter. "We take these situations incredibly seriously. NRG has severed all ties with Nairo."

The announcement came shortly after another player, CaptainZack, alleged he and Nairo had a sexual encounter at CEO Dreamland 2017 when he was only 15 years old and Quezada was 20.

Nairo initially deleted his Twitter account following Zack's Twitlonger statement going live, but has since reactivated to deliver his own response.

"I'm not making excuses," reads Nairo's Twitter statement. "My behavior was wrong. I was wrong. I messed up tremendously... I betrayed the people who trusted and depended upon me — the NRG Esports staff who helped me professionally, and more importantly, the community who has supported and looked up to me for all of these years."

Nairo had been with NRG since 2016 where he would be ranked 2nd in the world for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U on the PGR and is currently 4th on the PGRU power rankings for Ultimate.
