One game edges out Street Fighter 5 and it's not Smash Ultimate; see which titles got the most votes in our EVO lineup hopefuls poll

Which do you expect and which do you really want?

Earlier: With EVO Japan now out of the way, the fighting game community can begin looking forward to what will undoubtedly be the biggest FGC event of the entire year with EVO 2020, and we'll soon know exactly what games to start preparing for.

EVO organizer Joey 'Mr. Wizard' Cuellar revealed earlier this week that their team will be announcing the full EVO 2020 lineup on February 4, but what titles do the community expect to see come back / join the roster? And what ones do they WANT to see?

Although we shouldn't take it as hard / concrete facts or anything yet, Mr. Wizard did previously ask the FGC, "if EVO 2020 could only have six games, which games would make the cut?"

That certainly perked up everyone's ears considering EVO 2019 had nine mainstage titles between Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition, Tekken 7, Samurai Shodown, Mortal Kombat 11, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Under Night In-Birth, Soul Calibur 6 and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.

Taking what Mr. Wiz said at face value means we could be gearing up for a smaller finals day for EVO this year, or perhaps he was just gauging community interest outside of the three games which are probably going to be there no matter what and also had the most entrants in 2019: Smash Ultimate, Street Fighter 5 and Tekken 7.

Beyond that, however, it feels like just about anything could be on or off of the table depending on the circumstances.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus, which comes out in a week in Japan, feels like a strong candidate as the main Arc System Works title for EVO 2020 considering BBTAG's relatively low attendance compared to the rest of the titles and Cygames' sponsorship of the event last year.

Guilty Gear Strive would also be a popular candidate, but we pretty much know for sure at this point that neither it nor King of Fighters 15 will be out before August this year — if they even hit their 2020 windows at all.

As for the other fighting games that are still receiving support in 2020, there's SamSho, UNICLR, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Dead or Alive 6, Soul Calibur 6, Mortal Kombat 11, Rivals of Aether or perhaps they could branch out into something like Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme vs. Maxiboost ON or Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.

We've put together two polls below for the audience to vote on which games they expect to see announced for EVO 2020's lineup and which titles they'd like to see make it to Saturday night / Sunday.

There are some titles that we already know are not going to make the list like Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, which has been confirmed to be a side tournament during EVO weekend, plus it seems highly unlikely we'll see "classic" EVO games like Street Fighter 4, Super Smash Bros. Melee or Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (or Infinite for that matter) make it back to the stage.

Since Mr. Wiz brought up six titles himself, we're giving you the hard decision of picking which half dozen fighting games you want to see make the cut for EVO 2020 along with which ones you expect below.
