Update: Street Fighter 5's servers are now back online.

Earlier: The official Street Fighter 5 server Twitter account posted on Thursday evening that the game will be undergoing short server maintenance next Tuesday, January 14.

No further details have been given about the nature of maintenance, but many are speculating that this could be in relation to the recently developed, user-created PC mod that aims to fix a desync bug currently present in SF5's online experience.

"We will perform short server maintenance from PST 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on January 14 (1/15 1:00 to 1/15 2:00 UTC). Thank you for your patience and support!" reads the post from Capcom.

It's worth noting that while servers do go routinely go down every few weeks, (recent instances include December 15, November 25, and November 18) the downtime is usually between four and eight hours.

The November 18 maintenance period was a brief two hours, but never do we recall servers going down for just one hour. What exactly does this new bit of information tell us? Not much, but perhaps whatever is being attended to is something different from the usual checklist.

What do you suppose will be rolling out on Tuesday next week? Chime in to the comments with your suppositions.
