Even though it is not a fighting game, Teppen has managed to still capture the attention of many Capcom fighters fans out there for the love and detail given to Street Fighter and Darkstalkers characters who have not had a chance at the spotlight in decades.

GungHo Online Entertainment and Capcom are continuing to push their big mobile card game into 2020 with a brand new Teppen expansion called The Force Seekers which is available now and includes Akuma as a new playable character alongside dozens of new cards to collect and a brand new mechanic.

Akuma himself can be unlocked for free like every other character currently in the the mobile game by simply completing his short story mode made up of battles against Morrigan, Wesker and Ryu to showcase the new Ascended cards.

This new mechanic adds cards to the mix that have additional effects that can only be activated if the unit fighter is placed on top of one of a player's already existing card on board which destroys the original.

With its high risk and high reward style, the Ascended cards seem like a good addition to the black elemental play styles though it still includes new pieces for the red, green and purple attributes as well.

Evil Ryu is also available as an alternative skin for Ryu with the new update though he'll seemingly need to be unlocked via the random draws in card packs. The transformed fighter gains new hero arts with Metsu Hadoken, Torrent of Hado and Messatsu Goshoryu to reflect his Satsui no Hado-enhanced techniques alongside a different musical theme and I assume new voice work as well.

Teppen's roster of characters and cards currently hail from Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Devil May Cry, Mega Man X and Resident Evil though the companies have said that going forward they can use pretty much any Capcom properties they wish.

Akuma's inclusion makes Street Fighter the first series in Teppen to receive three different playable characters since it already launched with Ryu and Chun-Li. He also marks the third post-release deck master alongside DMC's Nero and Resident Evil's Jill Valentine.
