Street Fighter 5 director reveals an unused Seth Design that would've turned the machine into a badass high school girl
Not sure how this would have fit in with the story, but Kyo Seth is still cool
Seth is back in Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition now, and while they sport a much different appearance than their initial mannequin-like design, things could have gone in a very different direction during the planning stages.
Capcom had already given fans a glimpse into Seth's concept art for what eventually became their Doll Unit Zero body, and now Street Fighter 5 director Takayuki Nakayama has shared a completely different take on what Seth could have been reborn as.
"From the secret files, here's another unused Seth design (one of Bengus' proposals)," said Nakayama on his Twitter post as translated by EventHubs. "Colored, it'd have looked something like this. I really liked this one."
What's interesting is that this look is much more human than pretty much any other Seth design we've seen up to this point since their skin appears to be something like normal flesh along with hair and clothes to match.
Seth here once again has a female-appearing body, but they are wearing an opened male Japanese high school uniform with the sleeves rolled up. A look like this is generally used as a trope in media to suggest a tough girl character which probably would have shone through in their mannerisms and attacks.
A smaller, glowing Tanden Engine can be seen below Seth's shirt along with a yin yang symbol on their shirt collar for extra detail.
Some fans have also pointed to similarities between this costume look and that of Kyo Kusanagi from SNK's King of Fighters series.
The Seth we ended up receiving in SF5 came from a different concept design that merged together someone who could have been Gen's apprentice and Seth. The buff lady approach would eventually be slimmed down and made more robotic for the final look we have now.
Since Capcom has already released two sets at least of school costumes for Street Fighter 5, there's still a chance that this outfit could still see the light of day if we get any more costume packs going forward.
