Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct now live

Update: The Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct is now live. You can find the stream below.

An Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct has been announced by Nintendo. This Animal Crossing focused Direct will debut on February 20 at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET

Of course, any astute fighting game enthusiast would probably recognize that Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct is actually not a fighting game. While it is unlikely that any direct mention to the Super Smash Bros. series or any other fighting game will be brought up during the Nintendo Direct, the characters and landmarks do play an important role in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

We probably shouldn't expect an announcement of a new character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but characters and locations featured in Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct may one day appear as a DLC challenger in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or a future Super Smash Bros. entry. As such, it might be a good idea to keep up with this information.

"Tune in on February 20 at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m ET for a roughly 25-minute livestreamed #AnimalCrossing: New Horizons Direct, featuring an in-depth look at Nook Inc.’s Deserted Island Getaway Package," stated Nintendo of America.

It seems that we'll still be waiting on a general Nintendo Direct which is more likely to announce the first challenger for the Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Remember that six new combatants will eventually join the fight before the end of December 2021. It's entirely possible that another Nintendo Direct will be announced after the Animal Crossing Direct is done and out of the way.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be releasing on March 20, 2020. Definitely something to look forward to for those of you that enjoy the life simulation game genre.
