MkLeo analyzes his first tournament victory using Byleth in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Byleth has been in the hands of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players for about two weeks now. Although initial impressions of the latest Fire Emblem rep have mostly suggested them as being weak, FOX|MkLeo has been spending some time with them regardless.

Fascinatingly enough, MkLeo was recently able to win a weekly tournament using only Byleth. His opponent in grand finals ended up being Javi, who is MkLeo's cousin and one of the best competitors in Mexico.

While the community appears to be a bit apprehensive about Byleth's combos from their up special, MkLeo asserts that different types of followups are possible at low to mid percents if you can read the DI (directional influence) properly.

Going up against Javi, we have the opportunity to see how Byleth fares against Pokémon Trainer, Sheik, and Hero. In addition to this, videos were also posted that demonstrate match ups against Bayonetta, Snake, and Greninja.

MkLeo has a history of making characters appear better than they actually are. Ike, for example, was initially viewed as a top tier candidate when Super Smash Bros. Ultimate came out up until MkLeo dropped him for challengers like Lucina and Joker.

Do keep in mind that there is some NSFW language featured in MkLeo's commentary.
