During the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Finals, a video played that showcased the Bandai Namco game producer, Tomoko Hiroki, discussing upcoming updates that should be interesting to Dragon Ball FighterZ fans. Needless to say, the game's meta will probably be seeing a drastic change going into the third season.

The most notable addition that was mentioned was the existence of a "Z Assist Select" feature. As the name implies, players will now be permitted to choose one of three possible assists for their selected combatants at the start of every match.

For example, it will be possible to select Vegeta's Crushing Knee Kick (Dragon Punch-like attack that knocks the opponent downwards) instead of his Ki Blast Rush for his Z assist. Likewise, you can opt to use Goku's Flurry Kick or Dragon Storm in place of his Kamehameha.

Hiroki would go on to state that the Z Assist Feature is intended to better diversify the characters. The team apparently wants it so that characters weren't simply being chosen for their powerful Z Assist. This should hopefully help players express their individuality through their character choices more efficiently.

"With this, you will be able to develop new ways to connect combos and build strategies, giving users a broader way to enjoy fights," declared Hiroki. "We will also be implementing different Battle Adjustments, but our general goal is to create a situation where many different characters are used by different players."

It was also mentioned that the balance team intend to implement something that will "prevent one sided games caused by powerful attacks and combinations." Apparently, there are also changes coming that will help players potentially turn the tables, even with only one character remaining.

Although we ended up not seeing a mid-year patch for the second season of Dragon Ball FighterZ, the team is apparently considering implementing another big update in the middle of the third year — assuming it is deemed necessary.

Finally, we also ended up getting a glimpse of the new user interface for the game's character select screen. The addition of new modes was also mentioned.
