Version 7.0.0. of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is about a week old at this point. This update provided a number of balance adjustments and gave us Byleth as the newest fighter to join the roster.

Alliance|Armada has recently released a tier list that depicts his opinions of the character rankings after the latest update. Although impressions are early, Byleth was included in Armada's list. Do feel free to draw comparisons to FOX|MkLeo's recent tier list as well as our community voted tier list section for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Characters in Armada's rankings are categorized from S tier to F tier. Keep in mind that Mii Brawler, Mii Gunner, Mii Swordsman, Villager, Sonic, Lucario, and Lucas went unranked as Armada is "unsure" about their viability.

It seems that Armada's impressions of Byleth aren't the greatest at the moment. As one can imagine, this resulted in a rather low placement for the newest challenger.

"I honestly think that [Byleth] is bad," declared Armada. "I have a hard time seeing this character as being good. The character is so incredibly slow. When I play Byleth and when I see people play Byleth, it legit feels like you're playing slow-mo. I don't know what they were thinking."

Of course, it wasn't just Byleth's speed that was an issue in regards to Armada's belief that the latest Fire Emblem challenger belonged in E tier — the second lowest category. Armada mentioned that Byleth doesn't reap a lot of reward from successful grabs.

Their recovery was also noted as being "more exploitable than it might look like at first glance" due to the character's "incredibly poor air speed." As a result, challenging Byleth off stage will often result in the loss of a stock.

As for Armada's character of choice, Inkling managed to make it into A tier. Of course, this means that 12-13 different fighters are considered to be stronger in Armada's eyes.
