Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition, like everything else in 2020, saw a ton of setbacks and roadblocks in the form of needing to cancel both the offline Capcom Pro Tour as well as the Intel World Open though things will hopefully start looking up again in the coming months.

Capcom has posted a special New Year's message to the Japanese Street Fighter Community page which details their plans a bit for 2021 in terms of Season 5 content and continued eSports events.

The biggest takeaway from the post is that the Capcom Pro Tour and Street Fighter League will continue in 2021 though they didn't say what form they'd be taking shape in next year. Unless conditions around the world begin to rapidly change, however, everything will likely remain as online or invitationals only.

More information will probably come during the Capcom Cup finals which are set to take place from February 19–21, 2021.

That'll also in all likelihood serve as the point where we get to see more of Dan in action along with Season 5's changes, and judging by the previous years, probably release shortly after finals end as well.

Attached to the message is an image featuring artwork of the various boss characters from throughout Street Fighter's history.

G is there once again to drill in that he's considered the boss of SF5, and Seth gets two variants shown off between the different bodies.

The message contained within is different from the post, but it's simply a message from the development team thanking fans for their support and wishing everyone a happy new year.

All things considered, 2020 was a fairly quiet year in terms of content for SF5, and that looks to be changing in the near-ish future.
