Dragon Ball FighterZ crosses 6 million copies sold which means new celebration items are coming to the game

Dragon Ball remains one of the biggest entertainment franchises in the entire world, so it's no big surprise to see that its latest fighting game is still pushing big numbers even after almost three years.

Arc System Works and Bandai Namco have revealed that Dragon Ball FighterZ has now eclipsed 6 million sales worldwide, and they developers are soon going to be adding some nice little pieces of content for celebration.

The announcement came in the same V-Jump issue where Super Baby 2 was first unveiled as the next DLC character joining the FighterZ in the near future.

To commemorate the occasion, Bandai Namco will be adding new lobby avatars for Gogeta and Super Saiyan Bardock along with a new color option for Vegeta — perhaps tied to Baby or a manga variant like we previously saw for Goku.

No release date was given for the free additions, but they'll likely come at the same time as Super Baby in early 2021.

These numbers put FighterZ in the upper echelon of fighting games this generation with only a handful that compete or exceed it.

Dragon Ball continues to track higher than Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition despite having two more years on the market while catching up to Bamco's other big fighter Tekken 7.

As for the titles that are still ahead, it's probably going to be nearly impossible to catch Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's 21 million copies with Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11 selling higher too.

This shows that DBFZ managed to sell an additional 1 million copies since May which puts it at the same level as Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 at that point though we haven't gotten an updated total since.

Below, you'll find a comparison of the best-selling fighting games of this (past) generation though some games like Injustice 2 and Soul Calibur 6 haven't been given official numbers to calculate.

Best-selling Fighting Games of the PS4 / Xbox One Generation

• Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 21 million

• Tekken 7 - 6 million

• Dragon Ball FighterZ - 6 million

• Street Fighter 5 - 5 million
