Zato-1 straight up does a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure pose in his Guilty Gear Strive win animation
I guess Eddie is a lot like a Stand
Guilty Gear and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure share a lot of the same inspirations between western rock 'n roll influencing character and attack names, but it's also not uncommon to see the fighting game reference the iconic manga / anime series directly.
Arc System Works continues to give fans little snippets of moves and animations that are going to be included with Guilty Gear Strive with their latest showing Zato-1 performing a JoJo pose with Eddie acting as his Stand.
The animation itself is the returning fighter's round victory pose that has Zato slowly raise his arms before quickly stepping up and snapping into place with them above his head while his forbidden beast pops out and does the same.
Unfortunately, if this is an exact reference to a specific panel or moment, we can't find it / aren't familiar with it, but it does bare striking similarities to those performed by characters like Josuke, Rohan, Joseph, Giorno and others.
Some could argue in that case it's not a JoJo reference, but the way Zato locks into place and has Eddie standing there too just seems too on the nose if it weren't. It also looks similar to a JoJo-fied version of his official character render.
Plus this is also the series that has Zappa, who is essentially a walking JoJo reference to Dio, Vanilla Ice and others.
The developers appear to be having themselves quite a bit of fun animating Strive considering they have other comical touches like Eddie ripping his arm off to taunt or Faust passing away during a loss, so let's hope that passion is indicative of the rest of the package coming next year too.
Guilty Gear Strive is scheduled to release on April 8, 2021 in the West on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Also if you know what pose this could be in reference to, let us know in the comments below.
