Top Tekken 7 player encounters cheater in online match, game's producer already on the case
Kim "JDCR" Hyun-Jin is a two-time EVO champion and one of the best competitors Tekken 7 has to offer. But even being one of the best in the world can't save you from running into an old fashioned cheater.
JDCR shared a clip on Twitter yesterday showing an online Tekken 7 match in which he went up against an opponent who was clearly using unsportsmanlike means of playing the game. The game's producer, Michael Murray, was tagged, is aware of the situation, and appears to already be looking to take action.
"Hope there's something for these cheaters," JDCR wrote in the tweet accompanying the video. The footage shows the pro's Dragunov up against a Kazuya who seems to have the perfect read on what JDCR wants to do at all times.
The Kazuya player blocks nearly all of JDCR's high attacks and actively interrupts bigger moves with quick jabs into full combos. What really helps the top player identify the foul play is when he realizes that when he stops moving, so does the opponent.
We see that every time Dragunov performs the same drop kick attack, the Kazuya responds by performing jabs in tandem.
From what I understand, this online behavior is achieved by way of a PC hack. The user can toggle options that respond to the opponent's actions, such as automatically parrying low attacks or interrupting moves with faster buttons.

As seen in the footage, the offender's wins sit at 303, further providing proof of the misconduct.
Michael Murray was tagged and made aware of the clip, and quickly responded saying, "♪Making a list, checking it twice..." implying action will be taken. This will likely result in a ban from online play for the user.
This isn't the first time players have run into hackers online in Tekken 7 and it's also not the first Tekken title to see such behavior. Back in 2014, a user managed to hack Tekken Revolution and was running rampant with maximum stats.
The player was able to KO opponents with a single hit and had an infinite number of life bars, which made them impossible to defeat. Tekken Director Katsuhiro Harada stepped in and saw to it that the offender was banned.
