Someone turned Overwatch into a Super Smash Bros. meets Marvel vs. Capcom style fighting game

You don't have to look too hard to find avatars from Blizzard's Overwatch first person shooter make guest appearances in other avenues of pop gaming culture, but one fan has taken things to the next level when it comes to the fighting game genre by creating a two-dimensional fighting game mode via the game's custom Workshop mode.

Qtpiheart has already laid the groundwork for something of a Super Smash Bros. meets Overwatch modification as Doomfist, along with a handful of assist characters, take their FPS abilities into the fighting arena.

The name of this Workshop creation is "Overwatch Fight Club" and currently only features Doomfist as a playable character. Qtpiheart recently released a trailer for this mode to garner more interest and let a bigger portion of the gaming community know what they've been working on as of late.

While you can face off against the somewhat bland background of the Workshop stage, the creator has also made four other locales at which to do battle.

We get a handful of gameplay glimpses from this brief first look and observe Doomfists trying to stay on top of platforms while dodging barrages of both physical and elemental attacks hurled at them by both the opposing Doomfist and his team of assistants.

Unlike Smash Bros., characters have hit points that count down toward zero when they take damage. Both combatants have special meters that are segmented into three parts, each of which has four smaller parts that must be filled in order to use certain special attacks.

There's already quite a bit here despite it being fairly obvious that there's plenty of additional development to go for OFC. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think of this inviting crossover concept. Would you play Overwatch Fight Club?
