Biggest changes we'd like to see in Street Fighter 5's upcoming patch, turbulence at Lab Zero, and how to maintain control in intense situations
EventHubs Podcast episode 118
There's been quite a bit of turbulence at Lab Zero, creators of Skullgirls and Indivisible, in recent months and it all seems to be coming to a head as multiple employees have left and posted statements alleging that owner Mike "MikeZ" Zaimont has consistently engaged in unprofessional conduct in the workplace.
Catalyst and I recount the particulars of these accusations and offer some commentary on the matter before transitioning to speculation about Street Fighter 5's upcoming December balance patch.
The latest Street Fighter has already reached a relatively good place in terms of gameplay, but fighting games could always use a bit of tweaking. We list a few characters and particular moves that we feel are too strong, as well as consider the power of V-Triggers and how best to tone some of them down.
We also briefly discuss the regularly proposed concept of only changing tier balance via buffing weaker characters and strictly not nerfing stronger ones. Both of us find some holes in this logic, and explain why on this week's episode.
We conclude with a bit about maintaining control when playing in "do or die" or high stress situations. What causes such situations? Why do we so often resort to such dumb flail tactics while in them? How do we combat all this with a more sound gameplan?
You'll hear commentary and opinions on all of this and more here on episode 118 of the EH Podcast. If you haven't already, please subscribe via any of the numerous platforms we're on and consider leaving us a review on iTunes as it helps us reach even more fighting game fans.
