Capcom pulled back the curtain on a ton of Season 5 content for Street Fighter 5 today as Director, Takayuki Nakayama, and producer Shuhei Matsumoto revealed that Dan, Rose, Oro, and Arika are all confirmed as incoming DLC characters.

All of these paired with one more mystery character as well as a new mechanic, further balance updates, and plenty of new costumes and stages has the hype surging for many, but a longer than expected wait for most of this is simultaneously putting a damper on things.

We have a few of our own reactions to offer as we freshly process this new information, and then turn to what we're seeing as a gist from the general community to explore how we're all receiving this.

The current news and its implications should be analyzed through the more than just the single lens of Street Fighter 5 as it almost certainly gives us a glimpse of the company's larger timeline with regards to when additional eSports titles (such as a Street Fighter 6) may now look like.

Catalyst and I spend some time hashing out opinions and speculation for each of the four revealed newcomers and even consider some candidates for the fifth and final character.

Was a traditional joke character like Dan a good call to lead the pack with? Is Akira a better choice than other guest Capcom figures such as Morrigan? There's a lot to ponder now, and we're getting that conversation started on this week's podcast.
