For the SNK fans it was pure nostalgia

If you didn't get the memo, Terry Bogard was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This has the entire community burning with anticipation.

A big part of his reveal trailer was showing who exactly would be the newest addition to the Ultimate cast. This was accomplished by having different SNK fighters attempting to grab the envelope containing the Smash invitation. Geese's ill-fated attempt results in falling to his death. What inspired the trailer?

The first scene in the trailer with the envelope containing the invitation comes straight from the very first King of Fighters game. From the spinning envelope to the script font style it is almost identical to the opening of King of Fighters.

Another scene showing the crimelord Geese falling to his death is another replica scene, although a bit more humorous. In the original game, it was after being knocked off the building by Terry Bogard.

Iori Yagami is shown with blue fire trying to grasp the envelope. He fails to do so, and bursts into maniacal laughter. This comes from his original animation after winning a match.

What did you think of the trailer? How excited are you for Terry Bogard in Smash?
