Update: The Direct is now live. Catch it after the jump.

Earlier: Just yesterday, Nintendo announced the Direct presentation that will be airing today at 3 p.m. PDT / 6 p.m. EDT. Although Pokémon Sword & Shield and Luigi's Mansion 3 were specifically named, we have reasons to speculate that there'll be some Smash news as well.

As usual, Nintendo will be streaming this Direct on both YouTube and Twitch. Viewers are able to watch the announcements unfold on either platform.

We do know that Banjo-Kazooie is slated for a Fall 2019 release as far as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is concerned. There's a good chance we may learn about the exact date of release during the program.

Could we possibly hear about the fourth character in the Fighters Pass DLC lineup? Notably, Nintendo UK did seemingly leak the company that owns the rights to the character, so this outcome is plausible.

A notable leaker that was able to correctly predict certain announcements for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the past has already named a certain character. If all goes as foretold, we should be getting official confirmation regarding this information.

Of course, there's the potential for other fighting game news outside of the Super Smash Bros. series. As always, we'll be providing coverage of anything fighting game related that's announced during the Nintendo Direct.
