Here's why Liu Kang is becoming the most hated character in Mortal Kombat 11 right now

'You don't need much knowledge of how the game works at a high level to make Liu Kang's stuff go'

The Mortal Kombat 11 community had been raging about Scorpion and his pesky teleport for a good few months, but the latest balance patch has shaken things about and it seems that Liu Kang is the new poster boy for Mortal Kombat frustration.

Despite being one of the main protagonists throughout most all of the franchise's history, Liu Kang has never really exuded quite as much charisma as was intended (outside of Robin Shou in the 1995 film) by developers. That said, he's now downright pissing people off and Rooflemonger has a few reasons as to why.

"One of the reasons why Liu Kang is so despised right now is that he's very easy to pick up. You don't need much knowledge of the game works at a high level to make his stuff go," Rooflemonger starts.

He specifies that it's absolutely okay for a character to be easy to use, but that easy characters shouldn't be able to thoughtlessly trump more intricate and thoughtful approaches with something as simple as spamming F4.

After discussing some of Liu's gameplay options, Roof goes on to examine the way the most recent major MK11 tournament, Celtic Throwdown, played out. Sure enough, it was UYU|Rewind's Liu Kang that took home the gold over FOX|SonicFox's D'Vorah.

It doesn't take a ton of intricate analysis to see how the community, already weary of the character thanks to the recent surge of Liu Kang players online, would see his immediate winning of a big tournament as another strike against his strength.
