Will it be an upgraded mini console or is there something more to it?

SNK already announced their World Championship pro tournament series for Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters 14 players, but that's not all the company had in store for its fans today.

New NeoGeo hardware is on its way in the NeoGeo Arcade Stick Pro SNK revealed today though there's not much else we currently know about it aside from it is made to resemble the NeoGeo CD stick controller.

No information has been revealed detailing if the Arcade Stick Pro 'Pro Gear Spec Advanced Entertainment System' will be a standalone successor to the NeoGeo Mini, offer new games to play, let you use it as a controller for other systems or some combination of the above.

The controller itself stands out, as it has the modern eight-button face layout whereas the NeoGeo Mini and its controllers had the classic A, B, C, D configuration only meaning this could play different games than the tiny cabinet — plus have additional customizations.

Curiously, there appears to be extra controller ports and a headphone jack at the bottom of the arcade stick, so you'll likely be able to plug in the NeoGeo Mini's wired pads into it to play multiplayer games — which also seems to confirm that it'll have games built into it of some sort.

SNK did previously state they are working on projects dubbed the NeoGeo 2 and NeoGeo 3 to serve as "semi-open platforms" that will allow for titles to be built into the consoles along with the ability to purchase more.

We don't know yet if this arcade stick is one of those projects or something else entirely, but we'll need to wait on more info from SNK to find out exactly what this system is / can do.
