Nintendo leaks 3rd party company behind the fourth DLC character of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass

A Challenger Pack 4 listing for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has mysteriously shown up on Nintendo UK's website. This is particularly interesting since the release date for the third challenger, Banjo-Kazooie, is currently unknown.

The schedule is documented to be February 29, 2020, but it's extremely likely that this is merely a placeholder. What's particularly interesting is the copyright information towards the bottom of the page. This basically confirms which 3rd party company the combatant will hail from.

Whoever this mysterious fighter is, they come from one of SNK Corporation's intellectual properties. SNK is mostly renowned for their fighting games.

In other words, we could potentially get a King of Fighters representative as that tends to be one of SNK's most popular and iconic franchises. Terry Bogard from the King of Fighters and Fatal Fury looks to be a very strong candidate right now.

After Ryu and Ken from Capcom's Street Fighter series, Terry Bogard will be the third fighter that comes from a fighting game if this turns out to be true. Even if it isn't Terry Bogard, it's very likely someone that originates from a fighting game franchise as SNK mostly produces from that genre.

Of course, there's also the possibility that the combatant will come from a series of SNK's that isn't of the fighting game genre. Metal Slug, for example, tends to be a fairly popular property.

This could be bad news for fans of Ryu Hayabusa of the Ninja Gaiden series though. A leaker that was able to correctly predict the presence of the Piranha Plant, Isabelle, Incineroar, Ken, and Marx (as a boss) recently claimed that the fourth fighter was going to be Ryu Hayabusa.

Being that the Ninja Gaiden series is owned by Tecmo and not SNK, this does reduce Ryu Hayabusa's chances of being part of the fourth challenger pack.

The timing of this listing is interesting for a number of reasons. For one, we know that King of Fighters 15 is currently in development. All we've see of this title so far is the logo.

As mentioned previously, Banjo-Kazooie's release date remains a mystery. All we know about Microsoft and Rare's rep is that the duo will become available sometime in Fall 2019.

It's been quite some time since the last Nintendo Direct. A presentation hasn't been aired since E3 2019.

Why is this listing already being prepared? Could we see a scenario where an SNK representation is released on the same day as Banjo-Kazooie? It's certainly a possibility.
