In Capcom's recent financial integrated report for the 2019 fiscal year, it was revealed that Street Fighter is the company's third most successful series. First place and second place go to Resident Evil and Monster Hunter respectively.

Across 91 different titles, the Street Fighter franchise has sold over 42 million units as of 2019. We'll likely continue seeing this series pushed by Capcom in the future as a result.

As for Resident Evil and the Monster Hunter series, they sold 91 and 54 million across 128 and 43 different games respectively. While Resident Evil's sales are close to double that of Monster Hunter's, it's worth mentioning that Resident Evil has had three times as many titles produced over the company's lifespan.

Another fighting game has received an honorable mention. The Marvel vs. Capcom series has sold 9.1 million units thus far.

Having said that, there's only been 16 titles for the Marvel vs. Capcom collaboration. Needless to say, it's easy to see why there are less titles since it requires Marvel and Disney's cooperation.

Despite all this, the Marvel vs. Capcom series appears to place at seventh when compared to the rest of the listed series.

The other franchises that made this list are Mega Man, Devil May Cry, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Onimusha, Ace Attorney, Dragon's Dogma, Commando, 1942, Breath of Fire, Okami, Final Fight, Sengoku BASARA, Ghosts'n Goblins, and Dino Crisis.
