Currently being referred to as 'Project L'

It's been known for quite some time that Riot Games was working on a League of Legends fighting game. Gameplay footage for this mysterious game has finally surfaced during Riot's League 10-Year Kickoff stream.

During the sneak peek, it was referred to as "Project L." While it's often referred to as one of the "worst kept secrets" in the gaming industry, it was only officially revealed at EVO 2019.

The sequences of gameplay are extremely brief. In fact, we only see some action in two different sequences.

One segment showcased two heroes on what appears to be a training stage. The stage's look is similar to the grid-based location many fighting games are known for having, such as the Street Fighter series.

We also had the opportunity to see Ahri — female mage hero — fighting off against Darius — male ax user. This time, the battle took place in what appears to be a desert.

Jinx and Katarina were also spotted and had some gameplay to show off. Finally, Ryze was noticed in concept art, but no gameplay was shown for him.

It's been a long wait since Riot first acquired Radiant Entertainment — the studio behind Rising Thunder — back in March 2016. Unfortunately, it appears that we're still a very long ways off from a release.

"While we're a good ways towards making something that we think is really cool, we still have a long way to go," stated Cannon. "We're going to go dark for awhile after this, so please don't expect anything soon, but know that we're here working hard for you."

As of right now, the footage appears to be in the very early stages. GUI is very basic, but we can make out the presence of meter at the bottom of the screen that likely indicates the existence of EX attacks and supers.
