Luigi's cyclone gimps may be returning thanks to newly discovered tech in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Luigi has had his banner carried by one player so far — Elegant. Widely viewed as a worse fighter than in the previous title, many former users are still fleshing out the green-capped fighter's capabilities.

One of his main tools and best ones in Smash 4 was his cyclone. It could gimp and take stocks at zero percent and was the perfect edge guarding tool. It seems that once again the cyclone gimp is viable.

Things that Luigi can do well: combo opponents into oblivion, and take stocks. Things that he cannot do well: recover and edge guard. The latter flaw has been costly at the top levels of Ultimate.

Elegant was easily the best Luigi in Smash 4 and has retained that title here in Ultimate thus far. The competitor has adjusted around the fact that cyclone is no longer as useful as it used to be (save for as a tool for taking stocks).

Elegant was known for his ability edge guard with the rising cyclone. Now it is useful again with this windbox and ability to stuff out teleportation and other recoveries. We can see clearly how the windbox gimps opponents.

Maybe more Luigi players will use this tech and rise up. I personally cannot wait to see how Elegant uses this in tournament moving forward.
