Bust up opponents' shields with this Banjo-Kazooie forward aerial and Wonderwing setup — GimR details how to creatively threaten with Wonderwing

We've had over a month to figure out the inner workings of Banjo-Kazooie's gameplay style. As a result, we're already seeing some noteworthy tournament results for the bear-and-bird duo.

While Wonderwing — side special — is without a doubt one of Banjo-Kazooie's best options, it's limited to five uses per stock. Obviously this means that you want to get maximum efficiency out of this attack.

VGBC|GimR has recently released a video that showcases some creative uses for the Wonderwing. Utilized correctly, you're sure to burst your opponent's bubble with some of the tech that's showcased.

If the opponent blocks a full hop forward aerial (short hop aerials aren't strong enough) then a Wonderwing, their shield will instantly pop. This forces the opponent into a rather unfavorable mix up.

Upon landing, forward aerial recovers in about 11 frames. Spaced correctly, Banjo-Kazooie can remain safe against most shield grab punish attempts.

Using this same sequence of attacks will also connect against spot dodges and backwards rolls. Some characters, like Mr. Game & Watch, have particularly poor forward rolls that are also susceptible to this.

Once another player catches on to this, they can counter with other options. However, many of these same counters can be defeated with similar actions if you read them.

During his video, GimR demonstrates how you can take advantage of a conditioned player like this.
