Samurai Shodown's western Nintendo Switch release date delayed to 2020

SNK has had a pretty decent year with the release of Samurai Shodown, Terry Bogard's inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and King of Fighters 15's announcement though we'll need to wait until 2020 at least to see the full scope of their plans.

Samurai Shodown was originally supposed to launch on the Nintendo Switch during the final quarter of 2019, but that no longer appears to be the case — for those of us outside of Japan at least.

Publisher Athlon Games released a new English trailer for the Switch version of SamSho which includes a new release window revealing a delay to the first quarter of 2020.

No official reason was given for the pushed back date though the Japanese version of the game still appears to be on track for a December 12 release in less than a month.

Like Japan, this new trailer also confirms that players who pre-order SamSho on Switch in the United States will also receive Samurai Shodown! 2 as a bonus game hailing from the Neo Geo Pocket back in 1999.

A PC version of Samurai Shodown is also slated for a fourth quarter release even though we have yet to see it in action or have a Steam section open for it. It will be releasing alongside Google Stadia's launch lineup later today, however.
